MAC changer for cablemodem

ive tried a couple different metthods for changing my MAC addy, and once i restart i cant connect to net. is there any that works with cable modem?

You need to understand this about your cable provider:

Just say you use Cox Communications for your cable. You either buy a modem from cox or get one at the store. You must then register the modems MAC with Cox. If you change your modem, you will notice you can not get a connection. You are forced to call Cox and give them the new MAC of the modem you purchased (written on the outside of the modem).

Your ethernet cards MAC does not matter in this situation. It can be anything. You will still be distributed the same IP from Cox because they look at the modems MAC, not your ethernet card.

If you have a router connected to your modem you can change your ethernet cards MAC to be given a new IP on the LAN. (**2.*68.0.2) might change to (**2.*68.0.*) or whatever number is next in line for distribution from your router.

EDIT: If you are having problems connecting your computer through the modem RESET the modem after you change your mac.

ok i have successfully spoofed my MAC with a MAC changer. ok so now my MAC is different, my IP is now different, what else could be preventing access? hard drive seriels? any way of changing that?

Did you try reading what he wrote?

Your old (legitimate) MAC address is the one registered with your ISP, so you will only be able to make a connection with that MAC address. Change it back, or give them a call and tell them the new address.

i was able to successfully spoof my NIC public MAC. i have connectivity, a new IP. is possible to use all the WPA checks i.e. hd serial, IDE, mobo?
