As a matter of fact there are two very efficient solutions.
(use one or the other, not both)
*. turn off your PC and go to bed
2. insatll a decent firewall

Hi,
Perhaps this will be of some help to u.
To disable NetBIOS go to the "start" button.
Then go to "run" and type: msconfig
Then click the tab "Static VxDs"
Then uncheck "VNETBIOS [vnetbios.vxd]
and hit "apply"
Then completely shutdown your computer.
Also install a good firewall to ensure that NetBIOS ports (and other useless ports) stay shut.
I recommend Zone Alarm Pro.
It has so many cool functions and does a good job (for a software firewall).
Another thing, it's crucial that your network bindings are set up correctly so that your computer isn't sending out ICMP echoes across the net.
That's one way a hacker can get you is by bouncing off your echoes.
Good luck and if u need any other help, shoot.

Hi
I would like to add that this is only valid for win*x/Me
All NTkernel OS (NT, W2K, XP Pro) does not use the virtual device drivers (*.vxd) they use instead netbios.sys. Therefore the procedure described by bLiZzArD does not concern NT, W2K or XP Pro.
However, ZoneAlarm Pro is a good soft, that U can use with all windows OS, the Stealth feature is great.
thanx
