Help - IP?!?

Hey I'm new to this and i admit im a noob, i have x pinger etc. on my computer but i need to know how to get someone's IP.. I only use msn messenger really and i have tried using netstat -n but it's too confusing:confused: anyone who could help would be grateful thanks :)
