Acer Buys Gateway

Gateway was just purchased by Acer & it seems like Acer will try to get rid of the brand name Gateway. Now is a great time to buy a laptop if you want a great laptop for dirt cheap.

The thing I hate about my monitor is that it shows a sort of splash screen (for about 5 seconds) advertising Acer whenever it is turned on.

In fact, none of my computer equipment is exactly cutting-edge or top-of-the-range. I've added parts to the same computer for something like * years now, the computer being average at the time it was purchased.

I think in total I have *70gb hard disk capacity (two HDDs), *.5gb RAM (though only *gb seems to be recognised) and a 2.8GHz processor. Started out with *20gb hard disk capacity, 5*2mb RAM and the same processor.

I like my key***rd the most. It's chrome aluminium, lightweight, small and has an illumination button for late-night typing. One annoyance is the fact that certain keys aren't arranged in the standard way other key***rds use.

My laser mouse is also useful, though it seems to be getting worse lately.

The Acer monitor (flatscreen) was relatively cheap at the time. I use *280x*024 resolution. What does everyone else use?
