I have reason to believe she's doing inappropriate things with older men my age, and she's only **! She's doing this on her laptop which she keeps with her. Is there a way/program that I can use to remotely install a keylogger/monitor? Her laptop connects through our wireless router but I don't think it's on our network because I don't see it listed. Please help me. She's too young to be doing this!

If getting the laptop's password is a problem, then use ophcrack (http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/) to get the password. This is assuming your daughter is using Windows.

reading this again, she isn't in your network? How is she getting internet?
If she is your ** year old daughter I would take charge of that computer. You are the boss.

I thought the physical access part was a problem due to not having a password. You can grab the laptop while she's asleep or something.

I know people don't come here for parenting advice or anything, but gordo is right. You're the boss and if you can't get access to her laptop then something is clearly wrong with the power balance in your family. I know it will seem like an invasion of privacy to her, but if you truly believe she's talking inappropriately to older men, you should do what you think is right.

the problem is she knows more about computers than i do. she needs the computer for school, or believe me she wouldn't have it.

There should be some software . she only visit the webpages by these softwares, the rest of the web can not be visited.

as much as kids know about computer these days, you can enable "admin privledges" on the laptop, and from there, create a sub-profile for her to log on and use the laptop, and you can create limitations/restrictions on that laptop....i'd also s***est you limit her access to only trusted networks

example: your home network, school network, etc...places you can monitor traffic to/from, and limits access to sites such as ones you think she might be using

and at **, i find it hard that anyone needs a laptop...my GF is a middle school english/writing teacher in a very "uppity" school district, and even they don't have laptops...so maybe getting a community PC for her to use so you can monitor use/traffic might be in order?

i'm approaching this as a corporate structure would with employees who need a computer for work...only allow her access to what she needs, if she needs something outside of microsoft office, then it requires an admin login or something of that nature...

I've seen loads of these type of threads over the years but I'm afraid if you have to ask a general question like 'how do I install a keylogger' -I'm sorry you won't be able to do it without loads of work and many more questions.

Seriously just talk to your daughter - you are going to have to do that anyway. And I s***est that starting the conversation with your teenage daughter with
"I noticed whilst I was spying on your internet logs that you were socialising with older men ........." - is hardly going to help you get through to her.

Anyway good luck !!!

you need have physical access to her pc to install keylogger monitoring software. here is a smart one that will send monitoring results to your email with the name Power Keylogger (http://www.monitoring-softwares.com/parental-monitoring-software.html).
