Problem with my connection?

I think I have some connection problems with my ISP. But they will not admit that the problem is located at their location.
My net is disconnected maybe *0 times/24h and around 50 seconds every time.

Therfore I downloaded Net Tools 5.0.70 and is trying to figure out how to log the trafic coming in and going out from my system.
I am totally new with Net Tools so
If someone could help me to get a good setup (to get a netlog that shows my net interrupt)) for Net Tools I would very much appreciate that.
I want to get some evidence that I can show my ISP.

I see that restarting the PC makes it go faster which means its not the connection (Don't tell me that the connection speeds up only when you restart the PC - this is silly)

I think your system is slow and needs some cleaning and tune-up. Since you said that you have DSL and assuming that you are surfing - this only means that your system cannot cope up to the browser's hunger for resources. Try checking the task manager and look at the memory usage of whatever you are running using the internet (browser, torrent client, DL manager) and if you see more than 50,000 in it's memory consumption, it's hogging memory.

It may also be your AV software doing heuristic scanning on your pages. This is normal, which can only mean that you need to speed up your system by adding RAM or upgrading the processor. NEVER turn off your AV software! You might download a virus and may cause more harm than just the slow-down.

Viruses could be running in your PC also, check for viruses preferably with avast AV running boot time scan. It may also be fragmentation of the drive - you need to defrag your system.

are you using a wireless connection through a router or an ethernet connection straight to to computer from your DSL modem?
If you are using wirles it could be a sign that your router is starting to go bad or that your computers network/wireless card isnt strong enough.

on the other hand if you are using ethernet and the cable is more than *0 feet long consider upgrading to a wireless setup because the long the cable the more packets you will loose which means that it is your issue not your ISP.

you can do a speed test here http://www.speedtest.net/ that will tell you if your modems connection is what it should be. if it comes out ok then its an issue with your system as the previous replier stated or it is a cable problem with your ethernet.

And i must disagree with the virus removal method above stated by the previous relier im a computer tech in florida and we scan with serveral av and spyware/malware tools because not one can find everything you need a team heres what we use

AVG *.0(8 and 8.5 are shit)
bitdefender free
spybot search & destroy
lavasoft ad-aware
malwarebytes
pc doctor.
and ccleaner to clean up the mess after u do all the scans

of course you will need to instal them and run them seperate and not all at the same time.

gcd, A good security suite to prevent malware. would also be a good idea. Although you can put together some good free ones, something like Kaspersky internet security would make a comp pretty secure.

Gordo. You make a good point but i have seen plenty of people who use that end up with bad virus infections. i suppose this is because of the lack of updates done by the users lol then again maybe i shouldnt expect everyone to use an AV or anti spyware/malware tool properly. and no im not in Dade City aka

and personally i find the combo of AVG and threatfire to work just fine. threat fire watches for changes in files that should not be occuring.

If you have another computer or laptop compare the connections between the two. It could be your computer ethernet card or wifi card that is bad or subpar. If you don't have another computer to compare it too, then see if you can borrow a friends laptop. Besides doing the virus scans, you may want to reset your modem and/or wireless router. My modem and wifi lock up every once in a while and I just unplug them and plug them back in.
