Why does my IP address indicate that I am located in the middle of Kansas, while my physical address is in North Caroline. When I ping I travel 800 miles instead of 50 which is what it should be. Do I need to get in touch w/ my ISP and get this corrected?

Contact your isp if you want to. Many of those location services aren't very accurate. Here is the most accurate one I found. http://www.geobytes.com/ipLocator.htm It puts you in NC.

keep in mind that most ip tools will grabb info from your ISP ok. Static ip adresses are rare nowadays from isp (internet service providers) so dinamic ip adress will point to the isp providing you a temporary ip.
