getting someones IP address

once i have the IP address of someone, is there a program or something i can then type it into to find out where they are etc.

i tried this site:

but it wasnt able to find anything, not even my details...

any ideas?

I don't really get off posting - so if you want my free tutorial just ask. It has hacking techniques and VB code writing. A hacker can hack systems with tools, a good hacker makes his own tools.

There are many ways to get an IP number. Seing as it's required by both ends of the connection, it's information that is not hard to find. In irc, there are many commands that can show information about a user, including IP information, email headers contain IP numbers, scripts can log website visitors' IP numbers, etc. There are a lot of ways, too many to describe here. Try googling for it or searching this forum.

Can I get someone to help me on getting info from a IP number. I have the number who their internet provider is and the domain name. Ofcouse they wouldn't give me info if i tried. ok i used neotrace or w/e and searched an IP address that posted something on my site... now, I got the coordinates or w/e of the location of that IP... so how do I find out exactly where it is? can I use google earth or something?

If you traced an IP number, you will have the location of [B]their ISP[/B]. From an IP address, that is all you can get, because most people have dynamic IP numbers that are owned and assigned by the ISP. This means they will be registered to the ISP, and the coordinates you get from "tracing" it will be that of your ISP's location. All most IP numbers can give you is the approximate area they are from, such as city, not specific addresses.

I have a friends ip address. I keep hearing that you can drop a message to their desktop. If you can, can somebody tell be how to do it?!:confused:

An IP number is just a number, and you can't usually "hack" with just an IP number. People seem to think that just by knowing someone's IP address, they can easily hack them. But all you can do are things like port scanning, connecting to server software they run, trace the location of their ISP, DDoS attack, etc. Especially on home users (with routers), you can't really do anything, as the router blocks all incoming connections.

I have no idea what all this post means (ip adress or whaterver) but it sounds real interesting....
