wtf is punting? if you mean spamming just use the aim catcher.

Depending on the methods used to "punt" (like IM flooding) just disable IMs. Its common sense... if someone keeps sending you *00000 IMs until your program crashes, ignore them or shut off IMs.
...or use another program other than AIM, thus hopefully avoiding these pre-fab attack programs.
I personally avoid anything with an AOL brand like the plague.
I also find it funny that punting/booting has been so popular for so long. I remember this being popular back in AOL *.* days... whats that, like *2-*5 years ago? I guess some things never change.
