At the site you gave, take the retest. It gave results in mps. Or move the decimal point to the left * times.

This test accurately measures bandwidth and serves as a DSL speed test and Cable Modem Speed test to help visitors troubleshoot and locate bandwidth issues.

Before you start the Speed Test, please keep in mind that it uses TCP port 8500 to test packets. What does this mean? If you see a 'connect time out' message, then you need to tell your firewall to allow **8.*04.*50.202 (that's our server) to communicate with your computer using TCP port 8500.

Speedtest.net is an interactive view of the world linked to speed test servers in many different countries. When you select one of the servers, this speed test quickly checks the bandwidth and latency of your broadband Internet connection to that location.

The history of your test results are saved, and each one is given a unique linkable image. If you are having trouble with your connection, then share these images with Comcast, Vonage, Earthlink, Verizon, AT&T, Qwest, Speakeasy or whoever your Internet or VoIP provider is. Or just post them in forums for fun!

Speedtest is a tool for checking the speed and quality of Internet connection.
Through it users can connect with servers placed all around the world and measure the data download and upload speed.
Moreover, the speedtest shows the ping time of the server, name of the Internet service provider and the approximate localization of the country of the Internet connection.
Even though our database determining your Internet service provider and localization is extremely expanded and precise, there may be some inconsistencies concerning localization, which we will try to eliminate during subsequent updatings.
Some of the servers localized on our map can also test the Internet connection in relation to Voice over Internet Protocol - voip.
All of the test results are saved in our database and they can be published on the forum or a website.
We also run global statistics of the tests which allow us to acquaint ourselves with speeds depending on the continent, country or city. Perhaps this will enable you to chose the right Internet supplier.

If you own a server and would like it to be located upon our map with a link to your website, please fill in the Add Server form.
Servers requirements: operating in PHP language, version 5.x, around *00MB of disk space, connection capacity 20-*0Mbit/s

Simply put, to see if you are actually getting High Speed Broadband Access. More and more businesses and homes are moving away from dial-up internet access to some form of Broadband Internet access. Broadband Internet access is much faster than dial-up access, but it is also more expensive.

Broadband Internet, generally known simply as Broadband, is the name given to high speed internet access. Standard broadband is 5*2kb and is *0 times faster than dial-up that is just 56k. In addition, dial-up access requires disrupting your telephone service whereas Broadband does not.

Broadband can be delivered in a number of different ways. The three most popular ways are DSL Broadband, Cable Broadband and Satellite Broadband. DSL is currently the most popular delivery method for Broadband. Cable Broadband is the next most popular method and Satellite Broadband is the least popular method.

DSL and Cable Broadband are generally the least expensive and most effective forms of Broadband. Satellite Broadband is generally the most expensive form due to the equipment needed. It is also the slowest due to the *5,000 miles the signal has to travel to reach the satellite. It is generally used in rural areas where DSL and Cable Broadband are not available.

ok im not very networking savvy but this is what i know. the *00.00 mbp/s is what you can receive (not what you are receiving). the .44 mb/s that you are getting is because of the Internet's bandwidth plan.

because you have dsl you can upgrade you service plan from your isp to have a larger bandwidth.

There is a lot more to an internet speed test than meets the eye! When you measure bandwidth, be it DSL speed Test, Cable Modem Speed Test or any other, you have to consider the devices the packets of data travel through. A speed test also has to consider the technology used to deliver those packets of data and account for variations in speed.

To give you the most accurate results, our internet speed test was based on a research paper by Liang Cheng2 and Ivan Marsic from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. The paper explains in detail how to accurately measure Digital Subscriber Line Networks and is used by our speed test.

In researching Broadband Speed Tests, we also found some very 'unfriendly' user interfaces that left us confused as to the results. We have put great effort into providing an accurate, easy to understand graphical interface that clearly displays the results of the internet speed test.

For those of you interested in greater detail, keep reading; otherwise, just click the speed test start button. This speed test uses Java and will not work with java disabled.
