How to chain a proxy

I'm not a proxy guru but I found this "How to Chain a Proxy" that might be useful for newbies:

Thanks for the article but, as usual, there is no illustration how to do it. Every method of entering a second proxy in the IE5 address window fails (the proxies are good).

For instance, what--exactly what--do you type before, say

[url]http://www.hotmail.com[/url]

to go to hotmail with a proxy? Do you separate the proxies with a comma, a slash /, this -_- ? Someone please type out a model to use as an example. Thanks

you can chain several proxies together- proxy.name.com:8080/proxy2.name.com with the name of the port for the second proxy in the port column (do not forget, proxies are not WWW servers). you can put the proxies either in the address/URL field of your browser- proxy.name.com:8080/www.URL.you.want.to.visit or inside where manual proxy config is

chaoz - you don't put [url]http://[/url] in your chain example? Some people say put [url]http://[/url] before each proxy in the chain.

Thanks Blacksheep. I can sure appreciate this site and use it regularly to test proxies. Glad to see
a forum on these topics. Alot of interesting stuff here.
And Johnny I don't think you use http.
I found that info on another site. I'm still learning myself. But try it and let me know if it works.
I just use one proxy myself.

According to the site Blacksheep posted the structure of a proxy chain url is

but unfortunately most proxies i came accross block this action

I'm beginning to think chaining proxies is a myth. Can anyone who has actually done it, prove it?

why shouldn't it work? I may be showing my ignorance here but chaining proxies seems to be merely one computer talking to another, something that goes on repeatedly in normal operations. So if you have two proxies with vulnerable port 8080's, why shouldn't you be able to link them on your way to the Web?

P.S. I finally gave up trying to chain proxies a few weeks ago. After dozens and dozens of tries there was no success, nada, zip, zero. Nothing.
